Kimberlin, MD, FAAP is the Principal Investigator for the Collaborative Antiviral Study Group (CASG), an international network of pediatric academic medical centers that evaluates antiviral therapeutics in rare diseases with a large unmet medical need, including neonatal herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections, congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) disease, congenital Zika infection, neonatal and infantile influenza infection, and neonatal enteroviral sepsis syndrome. This may be the only book you need to start up and begin running your very own blog site. She starts out with the basics and soon gets right to the nitty gritty while providing lots of helpful reference links. You can find other books on blog site creation, however many of them seem to get lost in the details. I liked this one very much and would definitely recommend it to a novice or almost expert.

Epicguide to become a successful blogger. In her inspiring tone the author understands to provide easy understandable knowledge and practical steps to actually start. Very enjoyable "manual" which gave my blogging a power-boost.

Gundi's writing style is warm and friendly - it mirrors the conversational style she recommends for blog writing. I would have been happy to pay a lot more for this book, and wished a few books on the same topic that cost 10x as much were as well written and easy to follow.

What I love most about all the practical stuff that you get in this book is the author's abundance of generosity. She loads this small guide with bit after bit after bit of great info. I was very disappointed that there was really no new material shared, considering she says she's a best selling author. Most of the links in this eBook didn't work, even when pointing to her own material or webpages. And when pointing to others, like the one to socialtriggers.com, the content had so many misspellings it's a wonder that she suggested it!

I love this book so much. It's a treasure trove of creative gems – sensational art, writing that is wicked funny and smart, and a play (yes, an actual play). It's so full of pop culture references from the last 40 years that it's somehow both a product of our times and timeless as well. A beautifully produced work of art that doesn't take itself too seriously. Highly recommend!

Full disclosure... I am the author's wife. Ha! But seriously - my husband is a mad genius. Originally while he was writing it, I was sure this book wasn't going to be for me. It was for comic book people and nerds - not exactly my genres of choice. But while my husband is a time-travel, sci-fi geek - he is also super sensitive and his sensitivity and intelligence are all over this. The relationship between Obama and Biden is written with so much humor and also emotion. Reading it I was filled with nostalgia - for the brighter and more hopeful feeling I used to have when they were the leaders of our country. I even got teary and I wasn't expecting that! Hope is a thread through each story and hopeful and optimistic is where this book leaves you. Besides the writing, there is so much unbelievable art made by a huge collection of super talented artists. If anything - Adam (my husband) committed so hardcore to just letting his crazy flag fly - that it is highly entertaining just to see what the hell he comes up with next. Buy this book for you or gift it and make someone's day!

So, Im proud to say I went outside my comfort zone and was invited to work on this crazy Barack Obama/Joe Biden project and asked... WTH? For me its a Work for Hire gig, I'm a long time main stream comic book artist, Im not politically motivated nor did that matter in this case, because its not a project that is driven by politics, treated more as a backdrop then anything.I co-created 5 faux covers for the book interior and just received an advance copy of the 220+ page hardcover. When I opened the book, I immediately realized that this was no ordinary book.. in fact Ive never seen anything like it. Crazy man, friend and author Adam Reid really must have had an out-of-body experience creating this highly energetic collection of ideas, short stories, plays and comic stories because having ex-president Obama and ex-vice president Biden wresting an octopus is about as outlandish as anything I could ever imagine.. and remember Ive drawn comics for many years!The book is an overall treat for the senses, Im not saying that because I had a hand in helping create some of it.... OK, maybe just a little bit of that, but if I were browsing a bookstore, however extinct bookstores are these days, I would have a hard time putting down The Adventures of Barry and Joe!~

When the the release date came across my social feeds I got excited, which hurts my bank account every time. I wanted the hardcover because the tease of the artwork alone told me it belongs on my bookshelf between Calvin & Hobbes and The Killing Joke, but ‘one day shipping’ is just too slow. So I read my digital copy this morning and made space on the shelf for the hardcover arrival tomorrow...and I’m so glad I did. Inevitably, I will need to pull this book off the shelf and hand it around because my descriptions alone will do it no justice. For those of you not in my living room i’ll Just say this; If you now or have ever loved cartoons, buddy comedies, time travel, adventure, laughing, that slight “I wish this were real” ping, and of course Sam “mother#$!@ing” Jackson, you will love this book. Hopefully you don’t need to read more reviews after that sentence. I’m trying to help you get to that next level, where this book is a part of your collection, as quickly as possible. Don’t thank me, thank the passionate folks who made this a ‘must have’ book.

(And also you should go back and watch Quantum Leap).For the past few years, we've all been living in a world where we hoped B&J could come back for a visit and maybe kick some ass in giant robot suits along the way and now that day is here.Adam Reid's creativity is equal parts entertaining, thought provoking, hysterical and highly sobering. The graphic novel style art work mixed with the mystique of the prose (scrolled across draft paper) is awesome. And who doesn't want to see comic book RBG kicking ass with a giant war hammer gavel?Buy this for the kindle and you get all the art work digitally but personally, I think there's no replacement for the hard cover copy for the artwork.

A good bromance never gets old and this is a great one!! Following in a legacy that includes Spider-man & Deadpool, Batman & Robin, Frodo & Sam, Lethal Weapon, Bad Boys, and the Sting, we have reached the pinnacle of bromantic adventures with this beautifully illustrated graphic novel. Lots of good information, well organized, well presented.My only complaint is the fonts. Both the text of the book and the source code. The font used for the regular text is very light, I would have preferred a larger, darker, and more bold font. The font used for the source code is absolutely horrible. There are little angle brackets used to identify a block (for example to highlight what has changed from the prior example). They are almost impossible to see. This is important because the author is constantly referring to the highlighted portions. Some pages are darker print than others, its inconsistent.If another edition of this book is ever made, I would like to see larger more bold font, and use a completely different method to "highlight" portions of text in the code samples.I wonder if this font issues occur in the Kindle edition...?

This is NOT a "cookbook" for regular expressions, but can be a very good reference when you lose your mind with them.I took this on work travel when I got it, and read it on the plan. The tips for working your way through interpreting regular expressions are very good, and easier to understand than the expressions themselves.It is NOT language specific, so you need to deal for yourself, with differences between say, how Python does it, and how Perl does it.This should probably be in most programmers' libraries.

I use to google "regex" and refer to the websites that would show from the search results. In my opinion, most of these sites were hard to use when trying to really understand regex. Maybe I wasn't persistent enough to screen crawl through several regex webpages/websites. I knew in my very soul I didn't understand regex well, because of constant issues coming up with seemingly easy regular expressions. I finally decided I wanted something comprehensive to learn regex.This book gave me the level of understanding I was looking for. After reading this book I can confidently say that I'm 1000% more comfortable reading and creating my own regex. I stopped once I reached chapter 7 because the last chapters, 7-10 are language specific chapters, but in the future I'll definitely refer back to those chapters once I'm working with those languages.Lastly, I did get some flak from other devs while I was reading this book "Geez you're reading a book on regex?? wow that's too boring for me." etc. etc. Don't listen to the haters! If you want a greater understanding of regex, and this book can get you there then don't listen to those nerds. At the end of the day and with learning anything, it only matters that the nerd in your shoes understands the subject. Also, take your time reading the book. It's perfectly fine to pace yourself and take more time reading, because there's a lot of needed detail.

A useful, but verbose regex backgrounder that may come in handy from time to time. It does have a Perl centric focus and uses an obscure and confusing markup system to delineate regexes in the text. Wish it had a more generalized approach to the topic of constructing regexes.

This is one of the best books a person could imagine on a highly technical theme. The author keeps a wonderful balance of theory, practice, and those pesky details that really make all the difference when one sits down to complete a project.By not asserting himself as a mathematical authority, Friedl lets his cleverness come through in a practical, 'human-to-human' way. There are a few moments when the more theoretically minded reader might want a little more detail, but the balance Friedl keeps is beyond admirable.In the entire book there are perhaps only a half-dozen pages that are 'challenging' to the mind, yet by the time the reader has finished the book he or she will be amazed, simply amazed, at the complexity of regular expressions that can be interpretted with ease. Of course, writing expressions takes more practice, but the regex muscles won't even notice the feather-light daily tasks of, say, basic data validation after working out on this text.The book will start the reader looking for possible regex solutions everywhere, and provides enough detail to take the fear out of using them.

If you're going to really use regular expressions and want to understand them then this is the book for you. It's not a quick tutorial (BBEdit's help is by far the best tutorial on regex I've seen) but it's complete and incredibly useful.

Seems they want you to learn the commands by doing extensive reading, directed by them, instead of looking stuff up in the index or a chart. Not good for someone who needs to get stuff done now.

I bought this as a parting gift for an intern, based on how much I liked it. This book, along with Learning Perl, opened my eyes to the incredible power of Regular Expressions. The knowledge I've gained has probably saved me a man-year or more of productivity over the course of my career vs. solving the same problems without RegEx's.

This is the best book I have read in a long time. Almost every academic discussion of race and slavery is tainted by bias, at present primarily the bias of (mostly white) people who are hell-bent on demonstrating their own virtue by mouthing anti-white slogans and truisms that are contrary to the facts. This book is written not from a narrow and aggrieved perspective, but from a broad and fair perspective that takes into account the ubiquity of slavery in the world from time immemorial, as well as the critical role that (mostly white) people in the United States played in putting an end to it. The United States did not by any means invent slavery; it was a terrible inheritance. But the Unites States ended slavery in what by historical standards was an amazingly short time, at the cost of more American lives in the Civil War than have been lost in any other war before or since. On this and a number of other matters, Sowell provides compelling evidence that the currently-prevailing narrative is itself a highly destructive force that harms black people far more than it helps them.

This book makes excellent sense and I really liked the history the author delves into. There's so much insight here that I had a paradigm shift! I recommend it to anyone who was as ignorant as I before I bought it. It's not about racism, but about culture and how it is propagated through ignorance and arrogance.

When I was in college at Ann Arbor, we referred to Ypsilanti, Michigan as "Ypsitucky" because it was largely populated by White immigrants from the south. I marveled at how those people hated the Black immigrants from the south, and how the Blacks hated them. But if you threw a sheet over them (which the Whites probably did to themselves with some regularity), you would not be able to tell them apart. They talked and behaved in the same way. They had the same touchy pride, contempt for learning, and feckless approach to life. They shared the same dysfunctional culture, in other words. The surpassingly odd thing is that people condemned the Whites who held this culture, while excusing it among the Blacks, to the detriment of the Blacks. And this is what Black Rednecks and White Liberals (the first essay in this collection) is about.Sowell supports his case with sound reasoning from unimpeachable data. If anything is lacking, it is a clear idea of how, practically, to address the problem. But of course acknowledging the problem is the first step, and Sowell's essay will convince any discerning person to do so.

Excellent book - very insightful...Mr Sowell is not at all afraid to let facts and rational thought stand up to irrational and pervasive political correctness and social pressures (btw, in the past, weren't political correctness and social pressures known as bullying?). Mr Sowell puts our modern-day cultural neuroses in the light of historical facts and provides a basis, a groundwork, for rational progress out of our current social, political and economic morass.

This is the 10th anniversary edition that I'm reviewing, which means that there should be 10 years worth of reviews already, and anyone who is a Neil Gaiman fan will have already read it.That said, here goes: it an old idea that you've seen before in a couple of Star Trek episodes and who knows elsewhere: the Greek gods or some other gods (in this case, pretty much all gods, in any pantheon that ever existed) are (or were) real! They derive their power from being worshiped, and only die if they are forgotten.The twist: believers bring their gods with them when they emigrate. We have old world gods in the new world. New gods don't get along with the old ones, and a conflict ensues.We follow one individual, Shadow, who isn't himself a god, but who might be employed by one, on journeys to various odd locations in the U.S. which are focal points of power. Not knowing much lore, he nevertheless has to do his best to fulfill his employer's missions, feeling his way through potential dangers and political intrigue.

Right up front I should admit, I'd never heard of Neil Gaiman before I read an enthusiastic newspaper review about this book and decided to preorder it a few days ago. Last night, it was wirelessly delivered to my Kindle and this morning, I picked it up and started reading. Almost instantly, I was so absorbed and lost in the storytelling experience that I didn't do anything else until I finished it a few hours later.It's a short book; it's enchanting; it's very well written...definitely top-quality fantasy literature. I'm not a fan of fantasy literature, but this book swept me away into such a delightful and fascinating series of incredible adventures--or should I say misadventures--that I could not pull myself away. The author is correct to warn that this is not a fable for children...the reality is far too stark and dark, and there are definitely some adult themes. "The Ocean at the End of the Lane" is a tale about a lonely bookish seven-year old whose life takes a terrifying turn into a dark and creepy reality. The child is never named, but in recent interviews, the author admits that this child is very much like he was at that age. The child lives in the lovely English countryside of Sussex--the same environment where the author grew up. And like Gaiman, the child is wise, responsible, and moral beyond his years. The parents are blithely confident that nothing bad could happen to their brilliant bookish son in such a bucolic setting. But of course, bad things can, and do happen, especially to the pure and innocent...The parents have no idea that the Hempstocks--an eleven-year-old girl, her mother, and grandmother--who live by a pond at the end of the lane, are really a group of immortals who play at being human. Our seven-year-old child makes friends with the girl, Lettie Hempstock, and she introduces him to the pond, which is really an ocean. Eventually, our narrator and Lettie take a trip into a higher plain of reality that is entered somehow through the property owned by the Hempstocks, and so begins a series of remarkable misadventures with unforeseen consequences.This novel is a heroic tale about the age-old battle between childhood innocence and mythic forces. The book will charm you, fill you with awe, make you feel on edge, surprise you, and make you want to keep on reading no mater what important obligations you might have waiting for you to accomplish.Since finishing the book this afternoon, I was so curious about this fine writer that I started doing research into his life, philosophy, and writing. It seems that in prepublication interviews, Gaiman says that he's prouder of this particular work than anything else he's ever written...and, as I learned today, this is an author who has had an insanely prolific career spanning blockbuster successes across a large number of different creative media. He says he's put an enormous amount of effort into writing and rewriting this book in order to get the tone, words, and dramatic focus just right. A number of critics have already said they consider this work to be as close to sterling literary fiction as Gaiman is ever likely to get.Indeed, I was very impressed. For me, this work is, without doubt, first-rate fantasy and escapist fiction...and very fine literature, as well. It delivers a highly imaginative, fabulous and fascinating fable that envelops, and attempts to explain, everything in the space-time continuum. Yes, it's that ambitious! It had me hooked from the first to the last page. Simply put: it is an incredible gem of a novel.

As the title of this review clearly states, I saw the TV series before I read this book, in fact I did not know this book existed and I was quite certain that it would not be a book I would enjoy reading, after all, the series revealed all the secrets.Well I was wrong this book is full of highways and byways, I touched in the series treatment and in fact has more depth than those eight epidodes could ever dream of and although it never got to the end of the book, in fact it did not even make it to the House on the Rock, the series was an excellent way for me to pick up something that I should have read years ago.The characters all fully drawn, the plot is well paced and the author is true to his premise throughout, which for me anyhow make this a five star book. When archetypes are needed they are used and used with a deliciously ironic effect. This is the sort of book I could put down and come back to, until of course I received the final chapters. Although the ending is foreshadowed more than once, and I will not spoil any else's enjoyment of this book by pointing it out, I was caught up in the narrative that I could not suspend my disbelief for long enough to puzzle it out. Although I look forward to another season of American Gods, knowing what I know now, will certainly allow me to cast a more critical eye on the transformation of this delightful adventure to the small screen, and I expect great things from the screen writers as they weave the rest of this tale into their streaming video offering.

Interesting at the beginning but within first fifty pages I got lost, didn't know which direction the story was going. The novel has some interesting chapters scattered in between the main story but I got disappointed that they turned out to be independent stories with no connection to the main story. Some of the description of the so called gods, their clothing, their looks and the dietary habits was nauseating. Because of so many rave reviews I completed the novel and the question that I had in my mind 'what's the point?' remained unanswered.

Dear, dear how I've loved this book. After a long hiatus from reading novels, I picked this one up on the basis of others' reviews. It was everything that I could have asked for in a fantasy novel: a diverse set of compelling characters, a sense of mystery and doom, emotional connection, a sense of history intertwining with the present. Clearly a modern classic and, though it is set in America, a work that plays with the idea of interweaving history, fantasy, and action in a way that is reminiscent of the the classics of the fantasy genre. A beautiful book and a world and vision that I hope Gaiman continues to explore for years to come.

I bought this book to put on a shelf for décor in my son's nursery and not knowing to much about the storyline, but it's one of my kids' favorites. My 1 year old loves the "move along!" parts and my almost 4 year old loves the story. The illustrations are gorgeous and hold the interest of both my children.

I have bought this book for multiple kids ranging from 2-8 and they all love it. The colors and illustrations are vibrant and adorable. I recommend this book for everyone!

It is very slightly misshaped. It was going to be a gift but I may hold off on giving to the child I intended because it's bent out of shape.
