I love these books and as soon as a new one is released I buy it. It saddens me to say that this book is the first one I didn’t care for. There wasn’t a lot for me to like until the last 20% or so when it all came together a little too conveniently. It felt like maybe the story was too thin on the front end or something...but I think my main issue was with Emerald. There have been other submissive characters that I loved because they were fully formed and wonderfully crafted. She was just so two dimensional.

I am a fan of TS Joyce and her shifter novellas. I’ve been reading her stories since September, and always marveled that I could enjoy the story even though I hadn’t read some of her earlier series. For me, this novella just didn’t gel right. I have read Daughters of Beasts, and so recognized most of the characters, but the Tarian Pride of lions was not easy for me to understand. Emerald’s struggle with submissiveness didn’t resonate with me. I loved Ash Bear’s story and she was also a submissive. But I never felt that close to Emerald and Ronin.

Okay so here is the deal... I found T.S. Joyce via my sister/best friend/soulmate. She died suddenly in 2017 and while going through her kindle T.S. Joyce was listed as a suggested author to read. Since then I have read and pretty much own everything she has put out. Tarian Alpha is her newest work and I read it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. The characters were so well written. Joyce has a was of putting words together that create such a visceral reaction. You FEEL her writing. Her words reach right into your soul and speak to those places you hide from the world. If you have ever felt like no one really saw you, this book will absolutely speak to your heart and lift your spirits. As always I wait with baited breath for the next in the series.

Don’t even know where to start. I knew the book was going to be amazing because all of T.S. books are amazing but damn I really loved this one. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the lions but I have to say that I am in love with a new crew or Pride in this case. I can’t wait for the rest of the Pride to get their stories. The book in amazing, incredible, unbelievable if you haven’t read it or read her books you don’t know what you are missing. I own all of her books, she is a bad ass... By the way the cover for the second book is amazing Wander Aguiar looks hot hot hot!!! Can’t wait for the rest and I love revisiting old friends.

I've read all T.S. Joyce's stories since the Saw Bears started. I've always loved them because of the humor and connections she portrays. (As well as how crazy the characters are.) This book was a little low on all the things I expect from her. Still a decent story but I definitely missed the humor and craziness that I've come to expect.

From the start it felt like you were dropped in the middle of a story already in progress, like I had missed half of it already. Maybe that's why I felt the characters just didn't gel. They didn't gel with one another and they didn't seem well developed. Didn't feel any real connection. Never sparked any interest. Stopped reading at 50%

This is the first book in this series. I was so excited to get to read about the Tarian Pride that wanted Grim back so badly. Ronin is the alpha of the new Tarian pride he right in the middle of a hugh power struggle. A lot of people want the council to be reinstated and for things to go back to the way they were. Some broke off and became the new pride because they want things to be different. Emerald was tracked down and her father was taken so that she would agree to become one of the new alpha’s many wives. Everything changes when she is taken by Ronin. After one day with him so can’t imagine going and becoming one of many wives. Ronin helps her discover just how tuff and brave she really is. But sometimes bravery is doing what needs to be done. Or maybe ruining a pride from the inside out. Maybe she can help the other girls discover how tuff and brave they can be. I loved this book so much. I can’t wait to read more about the lions in this pride. Congrats on another fantastic book T.S. Joyce.

Wow, every new book by this author just gets more amazing than the last. I absolutely adore Ronin and Emeralds story so much. Finding each other again gave them the hope and strength to do what was needed for the good of the pride. It was truly an exceptional read and I could not put down.

I purchased this textbook as required course material for undergrad level Heat Transfer.The book itself is well constructed, although the paper used in the pages is thin and tears easily (unfortunately, this is typical of modern textbooks).Ths binding seems strong enough.The material in the text is organized, although not as clearly as it could be. Section titles and example problems are well labeled. Reading the book is not enough to learn the material within; material is often presented unclearly and may be poorly worded at times. Example problems help, but they often do not explain what is going on at all steps of the problem, or they skip steps completely.Practice problems in the text are of acceptable difficulty, and the difficulty range is well balanced. However, no DIY answer key for odd or even problems means that this book is not good for individual use. Additionally, a few problems are missing information reqired to solve them, thus rendering them unusable for practice. Formulas in the book are usually easy to find or tabluated, although chapter summaries with equations are missing. Additionally, parenthesis are not included in many equatuions where they are absolutely neseccary.Overall, the book is of average quality, with as many flaws as good features. However, many other texts are worse (including older versions of this book), and in reality this text is still usable for teaching purposes.

This textbook came with many pages shredded and torn, so that large chunks of information was gone or could not be read. Very disappointing and not what one would expect with the price of textbooks these days, even used ones. Would recommend you find a different copy of this book, this one is not worth the money.

Good introductory text into heat transfer for undergraduate students. Lots of example problems in the text, good mixture of sample problems and the authors do a good job explaining the topics.

This is a good heat transfer textbook, the only thing to make sure to do is go to the companion website to get the answers to the homework to check if you are completing the problems right.

Not much to say but it is Heat Transfer. It doesn't have the solutions to odd problems, or any problems. This class was way harder than I ever imagined.

I read this book as part of my book club and was not looking forward to a Christmas book because my Christmas is not as wonderful as it used to be. My husband died eight years ago. I heard about the stages of grief, but I went directly to anger and it took a long time for me to get out of it. The anger felt by the mother of this family is very normal and, like me, she did not want to get out of it and felt she was entitled to it as well. It takes a special person to help those in the grief process. The givers of the 12 gifts for Christmas did it so thoughtfully and did not expect anything in return. My heart goes out in thanks to Joanne Huist Smith for writing this book. I will definitely pass it on to other who are battling grief and I will read it again to remind me that there is a way out of grief and enter a new life. We who have lost a loved one will never get over it but we will get through it. We will never forget the life we had with the loved one but we will also know that they would want us to continue in another life until we meet again. God Bless all of you who have and are experiencing grief and don't let anyone give you a timetable to stop.

Everyone at some point in their lives finds that Christmas is not the once joyous occasion it has been. This could be from loss of a spouse, a parent, a child, a divorce, a soldier, a dear friend. This is a true story in which the husband suddenly dies before Christmas. The mother and 3 kids all start to "fall apart" trying to deal with this loss, unsure about opening up about their emotions. Christmas will never be the same. Everything seasonal accentuates the grief... the music, the shopping, the decorations. Christmas seems to be passing them by for "lack of effort."Then suddenly little gifts arrive on their doorstep for each of the 12 days of Christmas, and slowly, the family finds some joy in looking forward to the gifts and trying to discover who is doing this. Each is drawn into action to bring about a little Christmas in their home, re-inventing a "new reality" and remembering their Dad and precious memories. The story is retold realistically about the pain, but also with love and a bit of humor. The 13th gift is the discovery that gifts of kindness ... big or small... can brighten someone else's situation; out of one's own pain came an understanding of the joy in giving and helping another. It is a tradition that the family decides to carry on... we can all be "Santa" to someone. It doesn't have to be just at Christmas, but to anyone in time of need.

I've been reading feel good books as of late because, well, I want to feel good. This book is more than a Christmas story. It is about overcoming grief, finding a way to move forward, and coming together as a family. As the book progressed, it felt like she was coming out of a fog and waking up. Love that. Nice message too.

I loved this book. Out of the four holiday books I have read this season this is my favorite. "The 13th Gift" written by Joanne Huist Smith, a reporter for The Dayton Daily News, is a true story about a family battling to survive after losing their dad and her husband a couple of months before Christmas. It deals with the grief they feel and how they are able to get over it and celebrate the season, without ever forgetting about the lost loved one. A truly wonderful piece of writing.

What a beautiful story. Having lost my mother some years ago just before Christmas I really identified with the main character. I walked thru that time as a zombie, my 3 kids reacted just like Ben, Nick & Meg. But we all pulled together. My mother was such a good giving person, we learned from her what was important. This book made me laugh & shed some tears. Giving doesn’t have to be big, you just have to show someone who is hurting, they are loved.

As I was reading this I felt like I was watching a Lifetime movie. A little too sweet. As a depressed Grieving woman, she had more energy than me on a good day preparing for Xmas. However , I did get caught up in the story and then remembered it was based on a true story. I ended up in tears at the end, its about truly loving kind and generous people. A Christmas story for everyone.

Wow - I'm still in tears from freshly completing this story. It left me feeling happy and excited for Christmas as I finished it on Thanksgiving Eve. It is a sad but heartwarming true story of a family that loses the husband and father unexpectedly 2 months before the holiday and how a mother tries to hold it together but still keep the holidays special for her young ones.The healing that the family goes through is helped by a stranger who leaves them small gifts for the 12 days of Christmas to bring back the holiday excitement.

This is a technical training manual and therefore demands high quality illustrations rendered in ultra fine detail with "jump-off-the-page" illustrations. The illustrations in this manual are anything but. Most of them are oversaturated with black making many of the icons and buttons extremely difficult to see. Only a few of the illustrations are sharply contrasted and comfortable to view. Very poor publishing job on the illustrations. But Apple, a company I love, seems to have lost some of the magic it once brought to its products.The technical writing in the manual is a bit cumbersome to follow but then I have never seen a technical training manual that wasn't. Seasoned editors switching from another non-linear editing system to FCP would find the manual useful. For a beginner it's going to be a bear of a journey to learn FCP here.Having said that, I think beginners might be able use the manual along with the download files to learn FCP.The best way to learn FCP as a beginner to take a long course taught in the classroom by an expert FCP editor who is also a gifted teacher. Such classes a few and far between as educators rush to move to online.

DO Not BUY THIS BOOK!!Ypu will not be able to follow what is being said with the visuals.The images on every page are over saturated, and are not readable. There is no one in publishing to correct this and the book is 80.00! They rushed to printing but failed to mails us a useable document. Shame on Apple!!!! And Double shame on Amazon !!!

I've checked out the earlier Edition FCPX 10.1 from my public library, but the images in the FCPX 10.4 are too dark to understand. I'm returning the book to purchase an earlier edition.

This book taught me how to use fcpx to plan and manage a project from start to finish. The media used for the project was easy to download and of excellent quality.

I just received this book, flipped through it and immediately returned it.The graphics are unbelievably poor for a $60 book. Graphic examples such as screen shots are tiny, dark, low resolution and illegible. For a book about video images, way more attention needs to be paid to the size and quality of the graphic images.
