The Wedding Vows from Conversations with God: with Nancy Fleming-Walsch, by Neale Donald Walsch

Review

Mixed in with the New Agey pap ("In truth, we are all married. To everyone. We are all one") are a few good solid suggestions for married folks. The Walsches' friends Diana Cirincione and Dr. Gerald Jampolsky of the Center for Attitudinal Healing, explain that they end meditation time every morning by imagining "our bodies turning into light and sending love." But they suggest that the success of their marriage is based on "taking responsibility for our own happiness and resisting the temptation to blame the other person when something goes wrong," "letting go of trying to control the other person," and several other sound (if vague) principles. Apart from these brief remarks, there is nothing in "The Wedding Vows" that will sustain a couple through even the first disagreement. (Beliefnet, July 2000) -- From BeliefnetThis beautiful little book is an outgrowth from Conversations with God, Book 3. Recommended. -- Spiritual Frontiers Journal, Vol.32, Fall/Winter 2000

Beautiful non-traditional vows that you should still personalize yourself. I love the ideas of each person being their own source of love and happiness, instead of thinking of the other as your source of these things only you can provide for yourself. The vows are based on personal responsibility rather than the sense of blame that happens in relationships when we think it's the other person's fault if we're unhappy.

Loved all the little things they added. It can be read in just a few hours. My friends who had asked me to write their vows were more than happy to use these simple loving vows especially when we saw that most all the other vows were simple repeats and repetitive if not downright demeaning and antiquated. Check it out all couples thinking about marriage. Perhaps you don't use all of the vows or go with the whole ceremony. I promise you will not be disappointed and your friends and married friends will be asking you where you got it from.

Everyone should consider using these vows at their wedding - they are incredibly beautiful and much more meaningful than the traditional ones.

This is great book because it makes you think from your soul, and that's what Love to about...Loving from my soul.

My wife and I were looking for a perfect and unique way to do our wedding ceremony and this book provided it! It provides and wonderful script for a beautiful ceremony with enough room to make your own! Plus, all the marriage advise makes for good honeymoon reading :)

love the vows

Perfect relationship guide for any couple. Highly recommended!

Just love this book! I was looking for the perfect vows and this ceremony was just perfect. It's a must have.

This book would've been much better as an article. You really get the impression that it was limited content stretched out to fill enough pages to sell a book and promote a board game. I realize repetition is a teaching tool, but the repetition of some pages seemed - again - to be more about filling pages to sell as a book. Not enough good content to recommend reading.

This is my first Book review on Amazon or ever, so I'll try to keep short and to the point. When I first found and bought this book, I thought it was, as the name states, a guide to investing. To my surprise, I found it anything but that.He speaks as he always does on the mindset and how to approach the world of investing, the different types of investors and so on..I found it very irritating that he kept referring to his Rich Dad in every bit of advice he gives, a sort of scapegoat to me. Especially, since Rich Dad is not a real person according to many interview done with him.The silver lining is that there are some solid key points here and there, but what I have to say is that: *it does not take +400 pages to say what he has to say* he is literally rehashing old stories from the first two books and retelling them times and times again. In all honesty, I started this review with a 4-stars review and dropped it to 3-stars in the middle of this review and now at the end of it I'm not even sure if those 3-stars are a correct assessment of the merit of his book.In his defense, he did say he is a Best-SELLER not a best-writer.

It did not really go into depth describing investments. It was more a motivational book about "making money work for you" and "getting out of the rat race." I would have rated higher if there was more concrete advice instead of glittering generalities.

OK, let me start out by saying that I like Robert's way of making you think. I read a few of the Rich Dad books. He changed how I look at money and wealth. I have unknowingly even been implementing much of what he preaches over the past few years and what he says does make alot of sense. Here's my problem with this book. First of all, as with his other books he simply repeats statements and thoughts over and over. He claims it is a learning tool. I agree to a point, but after awhile it really starts to look like he's just filling in the pages to make the book longer.Secondly, he says alot of the exact same things as the other books. no real new info here. Although if you haven't read his other books (and I suggest RDPD first) then this is a good overview. Finally, and most importantly, my issue with Robert is that while he makes great generalized comments he never actually tells his readers what to actually do. He kinda skips around the subject. So when I saw his "Guide to investing" I expected this to be more than the same generalizations. No such luck. He still doesn't quite get into what to actually do in a step by step manner. As such this book is mistitled as a "Guide" to investing." More like Robert's general thoughts toward investing.I can look past his somewhat remarkable ability to retain specific conversations and events from more than 45 years ago...or the way his claims are not really verifiable...or how in one book a story is slightly different than in another book...all of which makes one wonder if he made up the whole background story in order to have a theme for his books. However, I cannot keep reading his books if he doesn't start to present new, fresh ideas and specifics.

I’ve read and listen to audio version 3 times and at the third time I found out actually this is the truly the best investment book I’ve ever read.I had read several books from other great investment mentors such as Tony Robbins, the problem is, they are the one teach you to be wealthy as a middle class, but Robert Kiyosaki is the one really guiding me to be a rich man. tho I love the whole book but currently the chapters serves me the best is the first 10 chapters, on my third time reading them I finally learned the core lessons such as:Mindset to become a player in this money gameIt doesn’t take money to make moneyHow following a simple boring formula and make a plan can make me rich ultimately.I truly enjoyed these priceless content, in my opinion people rate low on this book are the ones want a clear answer on “what do I invest in” but it just don’t work that wayFinancial Literacy always trumps hot tips

This book changed my mindset about life. There are many great points on investing with deeper thought effect all areas of your life. If I can only now come up with a great idea to start my own business to get me out of the rat race that I have been trained for 37 years to do, may I find the true path in the B quadrant. I never dreamed the things I have been taught just like poor dad taught his son would lock me into this road. My mind is open and the challenge is before me. Thank you Robert for such a great educational inspirational book. I look forward to teaching my five year old your cash flow game as she gets older.

This book surpassed my greatest expectations beyond belief I appreciate and thank Robert for his unconditional reverence in regards to financial literacy and Independence. His willingness to share this level of information is what I needed to change my life again thank you Robert I am forever indebted to you.. I noticed my book, "Borne Revolution fight for Humanity" references a lot of your comments and mindset. Your books gave me confirmation about what I thought all along.. I wish you and your wife come the best that life has to offer and I plan to follow in your footsteps

Anything written by Kiyosaki is worth reading if you are at all concerned about your financial future. It is a great read especially if you are a business owner.I would recommend reading Rich Dad Poor Dad and Cash flow quadrants BEFORE reading this.

Reformed Dogmatics: Theology Proper

Review

Like books, people can become 'classics.' Great in their day, but richer and more fulfilling with time. Not yet a classic, Vos's never-before-published Reformed Dogmatics is more like a lost Shakespeare play recently discovered. There seems to have been a flurry in recent years of systematic theologians writing with an eye for biblical theology. With this series we now have a biblical theologian writing a systematic theology. Thanks to Lexham Press for giving us such long-awaited but impressive access to this much-discussed gem.--Michael Horton, J. Gresham Machen Professor of Systematic Theology and Apologetics at Westminster Seminary CaliforniaThe state of access to deep, historic, orthodox Reformed theology has progressed exponentially in the last decade or so. Resources previously inaccessible to many have now become available to a vastly wider audience. In my view, the capstone of this accessibility is in this masterful work of Geerhardus Vos. Vos has the singularly unique acumen and ability to summarize and state concisely some of the deepest truths of Reformed theology. This volume will now be my first recommendation to anyone who wants to understand the riches of the Bible's teaching in a compressed and clear way. Thanks to Richard B. Gaffin, Jr., to the translators, and to Lexham Press for putting this work into our hands.--K. Scott Oliphint, professor of apologetics and systematic theology, Westminster Theological Seminary (Philadelphia)This translation of Vos' Dogmatiek is the last link in access to his magnificent oeuvre. English readers will now be able to match the Princetonian's commitment to historic Reformed doctrinal orthodoxy with his pioneering work in redemptive-historical biblical theology. The interaction is refreshing as well as pace-setting. Kudos to publisher and translator alike for undertaking this project.--James T. Dennison, Jr., academic dean and professor of church history and biblical theology, Northwest Theological Seminary

Geerhardus Vos (1862-1949) was an American Calvinist theologian who taught Biblical Theology at Princeton Theology from 1893-1932. He wrote other books, such as Biblical Theology,The Teaching of Jesus Concerning the Kingdom of God, and the Church,Pauline Eschatology,Redemptive History and Biblical Interpretation: The Shorter Writings of Geerhardus Vos, etc. The other volumes in this series are Reformed Dogmatics: Anthropology,Reformed Dogmatics: Christology,Reformed Dogmatics: Soteriology, and Reformed Dogmatics: Ecclesiology, The Means of Grace, Eschatology. The Preface to the series points out, “The ‘Reformed Dogmatics’ stems from the period 1888-1893, when … the young Vos taught systematic theology (dogmatics) at the Theological School of the Christian Reformed Church, later renamed Calvin Theological Seminary. [It] was first published in Dutch as a hand-written manuscript in five volumes, in 1896. It was subsequently transcribed and printed in 1910.”The series is written in a “question-and-answer” format of, say, the Westminster Larger Catechism. For instance, Question 33 asks, “IS God present everywhere in the same way?” and he explains, “No, He reveals His presence in a different way in heaven than in the place of the lost, and differently on earth than above.” (Pg. 12)He rejects the concept of “middle knowledge” (e.g., On Divine Foreknowledge), stating, “knowledge… presupposes absolute certainty. Only what is certain and sure can be known… therefore, whatever is free and uncertain in itself cannot be the object of knowledge… the opponents have only invented this knowledge in order to unite God’s foreknowledge with their free will. And that they seek to unite two things here that logically exclude each other. Freedom of action in a Remonstrant sense and advance knowledge of that action are not compatible… God’s eternity… is simply overthrown by this doctrine of absolutely free will, withdrawn from God’s decree… if He thus must take up within Himself the influence of the temporal, then this destroys His eternity. The doctrine of middle knowledge denies precisely what could make it comprehensible.” (Pg. 19)He states that we must NOT seek a “decisive proof” for the Trinity in the Old Testament, because, “Old Testament revelation was not finished but only preparatory… Under the Old Testament’s dispensation the concept of the oneness of God had to be deeply impressed upon Israel’s consciousness in the face of all polytheistic inclinations… We must not imagine that the Old Testament saints were able to read in the Old Testament everything that we can read there in the light of the New.” (Pg. 38)He explains the Trinity: “There is only one divine being… In this one God are three modes of existence, which we refer to by the word ‘person’ and which are, each one, this only true God… these persons are called, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit… These three persons, although together the one true God, are nevertheless distinguished from each other insofar as they assume objective relations toward each other, address each other, love each other, and can interact with each other.” (Pg. 43)He argues that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the father AND the Son, “although the Greek church denies this. Different motives underlie this denial. It agreed above all with the mystical direction of the Greek church… Proofs for procession from the Son also are the following: a) If the Spirit does not proceed from the Son, then there is a point in the Godhead where Son and Spirit do not affect each other but are separated… b) The Son sends the Spirit in time. He would not be able to do this is the Spirit did not proceed from Him eternally… c) The Spirit is called the Spirit of the Son as the Spirit of Christ no less than the Spirit of the Father… d) All that the Spirit has, He has from the Son no less than from the Father…” (Pg. 72-73)Of God’s decrees, he observes, “God’s decree is universal; it encompasses all things… there is no distinction in the firmness with which things are determined, between the physical and the moral, the good and the evil. All are equally established by God with equally essential certainty… [Otherwise] that to which the decree does not extend remains uncertain and would intrude in an unsettling fashion into what is certainly determined. On this all-encompassing character of God’s decree and the certainty attendant on it rests the possibility of all knowledge, for without reality as certain, knowledge is not possible.” (Pg. 82-83) Nevertheless, “In the execution of this decree… there is nothing that can make God a cause of sin. On this point Scripture speaks as emphatically as possible.” (Pg. 96)He comments on Romans 9:18: “The emphasis falls on the initial words, ‘On whom He wills He shows mercy, whom He wills he hardens.’ The apostle intends to say there is no other reason for the different assignments of destiny than the absolute will of God. And this is true both for the destiny of misery as well as for the destiny of blessedness.” (Pg. 122)He suggests, “We do not have to occupy ourselves at length here about whether this reasoning is infralapsarian or supralapsarian. However, if our explanation is correct, then an infralapsarian explanation will not do justice to the words of the apostle. The question of the vessel [Rom 9:20-21] would then have never read, ‘Why have you made me thus?’ but at the most, ‘Why when I already was as I was did you ordain me to this end?’….The image of the potter does not intend to teach us that by virtue of His predestination God makes man a sinner. But there is certainly involved, we think, that in His decree regarding the destiny of creatures, God includes the sin that men themselves commit, and that the concern of His decree with sin occupies a place in His predestination of what men will be and to what end they will serve.” (Pg. 129)He notes, “Election as a discriminating election is at the same time an entirely free election. But free is still something other than arbitrary. Election would not be free if God were led by motives that He had not derived from Himself. Election would have been arbitrary if God had been entirely without any motives, something that cannot be reconciled with His wisdom… Suitability or the purposes of election is not the motivating cause in God but is much more its fruit.” (Pg. 134)Later, he adds, “The question is not whether sin comes into consideration as a factor in the decree of election and of rejection… One frequently hears the claim that those who place election above the fall teach that God has ordained men for eternal bliss and eternal misery only because He willed to do so and without considering their sin. But that is a conclusion that is not present in supralapsarianism… With equally good right one could derive a variety of conclusions from infralapsarianism from which everyone must recoil, since they seem to attack the foundation of God’s virtues.” (Pg. 144-145) He admits, however, that supralapsarianism suffers from “great harshness”: “However, one should certainly keep in view that this harshness resides in the doctrine of God’s decree as such, and supralapsarianism merely brings it out clearly.” (Pg. 150)He says that there are three interpretations of Genesis 1 & 2: “the allegorical, the mythical and the historical. The first two views, however, are untenable because within the narrative of Scripture the creation narrative is interwoven like a link in the chain of God’s saving acts. God does not make a chain of solid gold, in which the final link is a floral wreath. If the creation history is an allegory, then the narrative concerning the fall and everything further that follows can also be allegory. The writer of the Pentateuch presents his work entirely as history.” (Pg. 161) Later, he adds, “The entire creation aimed at man as its completion. It is difficult to accept that preparing for this goal took thousands of years.” (Pg. 168) However, he notes that one “who holds that the days are long time periods [should not] be regarded a heretic.” (Pg. 169)And of course, he rejects evolution: “This theory claims that everything has developed, and is still developing, from a single instance of matter by the working of certain natural laws. The theory of evolution, however, does not have an answer to the question where that matter and those laws came from. It can therefore not be a substitute for the doctrine of creation and is based, moreover, on deism.” (Pg. 182)This series will be of great interest to those seriously studying Reformed theology.

Classic! His biblical theology is excellent as well!

7/10An laconic ensample of perspicuity, terseness, and incisive logic modelled on the old summae in form, but with modern Reformed content. Easy to read and well-formatted, this straightforward text doesn't mince words, nor is it much watered down to contemporary tastes.Weak on method and lacking prolegomena, this short and to the point century-old text covers more ground in ten pages and with less ten-thousand dollar words than any modern text I am familiar with does in fifty. However, this volume contains little-to-no original thought, but is an excellent summation of the tradition as handed down -- summations which are rare today. Little prior knowledge necessary; an excellent introductory text sure to raise the level of discourse in the academy if widely adopted. A worthy successor for the Reformed to the role played in medieval universities by Aquinas' ST or in later Reformed thought by Turretin's Elenctic Institutes [though oh how far theology has fallen since the days of Aquinas! I guess all the Aquinean intellects go in to banking or science now--Ed.] - a solid foundation - in an age where schoolchildren are no longer taught rhetoric or term logic, and Aristotelianism and its method are no longer unquestioned and uncontested as the only live philosophical contenders, in a world of fractured and diverse worldviews.A standout intriduction the field, though if one seeks original research or revisionary scholarship, seek elsewhere, such as in Jensen's 'The Triune God' or Bavinck's 'Reformed Dogmatics' vol II. (Or, for a more-than-slightly-heretical social Trinitarian view, Moltmann's 'Trinity and Kingdom'.)

Great content, easy read but too expensive

I have been looking forward to buying this!! Very good but consice.

Cruising Utopia: The Then and There of Queer Futurity (Sexual Cultures)

From Publishers Weekly

Gay liberation's activist past and pragmatic present are merely prologue to a queer cultural future, Muñoz (Disidentifications) suggests in this critical condemnation of the political status quo. Casting his vision of a radical gay aesthetic through the prisms of literature, photography and performance, the author dismisses commonplace concerns like same-sex marriage as desires for mere inclusion in a corrupt mainstream. More defiantly, he exalts the persistence of commercial sex spaces in the face of antisex and homphobic policings, and celebrates the overlay of punk and queer in performance spaces. Muñoz draws on a dynamic roster of seminal artists to illustrate his vision of a utopian queer future, from the well-known (LeRoi Jones, James Schuyler and John Giorno) to edgy artists, including homo-core punk queen Vaginal Davis, club photographer Kevin McCarty and drag chanteuse Kiki (Justin Bond). Queer theorists will find the book's provocative thesis stimulating; lay readers unfamiliar with Ernst Bloch and the Frankfurt School of philosophy on which the author builds his argument may find it a slog. Review

“Muñoz takes Ernst Bloch as his Virgil as he descends into the dark woods of futurity looking for signposts along the way that will guide him to a place of hope, belonging, queerness and quirkiness. Refusing to simply sign on to the ‘anti-relational,’ anti-future brand of queer theory espoused by Edelman, Bersani and others, Muñoz insists that for some queers, particularly for queers of color, hope is something one cannot afford to lose and for them giving up on futurity is not an option.” -Jack Halberstam, author of In a Queer Time and Place“In this interesting study of queerness and identity politics, Munoz (performance studies, New York Univ.) invites readers to look beyond the immediate present and toward a queer future.”-Choice"In the course of an introduction, a conclusion, and the ten lush chapters in between, Cruising Utopia elaborates an archive of queer aesthetic practices from the present and the recent past."-Kevin Floyd,Meditations: The Journal of the Marxist Literary Group“Gay liberation’s activist past and pragmatic present are merely prologue to a queer cultural future, Muñoz suggests in this critical condemnation of the political status quo. Casting his vision of a radical gay aesthetic through the prisms of literature, photography and performance, the author dismisses commonplace concerns like same-sex marriage as desires for ‘mere inclusion’ in a ‘corrupt’ mainstream. More defiantly, he exalts the persistence of commercial sex spaces in the face of ‘antisex and homphobic policings,’ and celebrates the overlay of punk and queer in performance spaces.”-Publishers Weekly“Brilliant, extraordinary, and necessary, Muñoz’s critical refusal of queer pragmatism, his commitment to the utopian force of the radical attempt—the radical aesthetic, erotic, and philosophical experiment—is indispensable in an historical moment characterized by political surrender and intellectual timidity passing itself off as boldness.”-Fred Moten, author of In the Break

this book makes a necessary and thoughtful contribution not just to queer studies, its most explicit disciplinary frame of reference, but also to interdisciplinary cultural studies more generally. munoz's two key moves are in ascending order of importance (1) the key privileging of underexamined theoretical texts rather than the canonic, equally applicable, but overcited work of foucault and benjamin, who munoz notes in his introduction have been rendered almost too tailored to queer theory's concerns, and (2) to instill a sense of "hope" and "utopian futurity" or more simply "potential" in a discourse that's still being dominated by lee edelman's anti-relational pessimism. sure, kids and heteronormative reproduction are a kind of violence, munoz admits, but not one that elides or obfuscates the ability of queer theory and queer lives to create something fleshy, significant, and other than the pessimistic or scolding. a tour de force.

Yes, please.

Phenomenal.

I used this book several times for my MA thesis, so it was definately an important part of my graduate experience. I do favor Dissidentifications, but this book has some fantastic subject matter and contributions to the field. I wanted it to be a bit more critical but nonetheless, it is an important resource from a beloved scholar.

Loved it!

This is a wonderful textbook for learning about the ideas in regard to queer theory. It was a wonderful tool in the classroom.

The material is very dense but extremely interesting reading.

Amazing Book. Great Author. Highly recommended

LOVE the NatGeo early readers. They are great for engaging in the kid's interest as well as parents who read the same books over and over. This is another good one!

Great story with beautiful pictures!

I bought it for a student. Hopefully he liked it. I thought it was nice.

We love these books.

It was exactly what I have for-year-old wanted and he loved it.

My grandchildren and I LOVE this series !

Super satisfied. The book was a gift to my granddaughter's classroom. Prompt delivery !

Find out about how different snakes in different parts of the world and basic snake characteristics.I really don't like snakes, but I knew this would be short so I took a deep breath and read it as fast as possible because I really do like these National Geographic Kids Pre-readers. They are just right for inquisitive beginning readers with fantastic photographs (or in this case, horrifyingly realistic). The text is simple and fairly easy (some of the snake names are a bit challenging). On the positive side, I live in a part of the world where cobras are semi-frequently sighted...even in places where students frequent at school (like on the soccer field) so it is good for the kids to know what to watch out for and this provides some great photos of what they look like. Most of the other snakes included are also venomous, so kids all over the world can benefit from the safety benefits of reading this. There's a map in the back showing where each snake is from. And of course, there are those kids who just can't get enough of these sinuous slitherers and they will probably read this over and over and over. Once was enough for me but glad this is available for the snake lovers.

Any time a book is written on the subject of religion, controversy is bound to ensue. Extend the subject to religious extremism and/or fundamentalism and you can ratchet it up a notch. When the book is written by a "non-believer", you can bet that it will come under vicious attack by proponents of the religion in question. Such is the case with Under the Banner of Heaven, Jon Krakauer's expose on Mormonism and Mormon fundamentalism.I read Krakauer's Into Thin Air and was riveted by his writing on the subject of Mt. Everest. I would not place this work in that category, but found it be a very instructive primer on the origins and background of the Mormon religion and its various fundamentalist offshoots. The book essentially tells two stories, the threads of which alternate throughout the book. In one thread, Krakauer tells the story of Joseph Smith, the founding of the Mormon religion and its evolution to the present day. In the other thread, he explores the various fundamentalist offshoots of Mormonism through the prism of a vicious double murder committed by a pair of its proponents. It is difficult to argue with most of the facts presented in relation to the founding and evolution of Mormonism. As Krakauer points out, it is a religion of such recent vintage that the historical record is quite clear. He does make a few assumptions and extensions which have earned him the ire of the official church. In those cases, however, he states his grounds for doing so quite well. It is doubtful that anyone except a true believer in Mormonism would ever write a history to the liking of the church. The beliefs and practices of some of the fundamentalists profiled in the book are scary in their level of extremism, however, they take their beliefs directly from the pages of Joseph Smith, the founder of the religion. Polygamy, or plural marriage, was one of the chief tenets of his church, and one that was stubbornly clung to for many years by the leaders of the church. It can hardly be argued that many heinous instances of statutory rape and sexual child abuse have resulted and continue to occur. While Mormonism has come under attack throughout its history, both for some of its practices and the highly dubious circumstances surrounding its founding (Joseph Smith was likely no more than a charlatan and a fraud who concocted a religion that guaranteed him access to a never ending cache of nubile virgins), very few of the world's religions have better legs to stand on. Old Testament Christianity is filled with barbarous practices and outlandish fables (Noah's Ark, parting the Red Sea, burning bushes). Islam, ditto. I'm not even going to mention Scientology. So, before anyone tears off on a rant concerning Mormonism, just make sure your own house is in order. If you want a quick and dirty outline on Mormon beliefs and foundations, this is a good place to start. If you want a good example of the effects of extremism (not limited to Mormonism) this is also a good example.

A friend recommended this book as a horror story. We are both fans of Jon Krakauer and he has a lot of credibility with both of us. Jon does a fair and factual history of the Mormon church and the rise of polygamy and the FLDS. While the Mormon church has denounced polygamy and the FDLS, this sect continues to thrive in Arizona, Texas, Mexico, Canada and they are now moving into South Dakota. In addition to the background and history, Krakauer zeroes in on several stories of individuals within the church, their exploitation and their escapes. He doesn't sensationalize the stories but uses the stories to explain the impact of the absolute control the FLDS prophets have over all the inhabitants in these FDLS communities where they make their own laws and take advantage of federal and state social programs even while they openly distain the government. Why a horror story? The people in these communities are emotionally, physically and sexually abused. Men of 40 and 50 take "brides" who are 12 and 13 years old. Their parents willingly give them over to these prophets thinking it will assure them a place in heaven. These people think this is normal and the rest of society is heathen. It is an alternative universe, but it goes on here in the US.

For me the book is 'a page turner' for i could not put it down following the first ten pages. Learning of the development of the LDS faith through Joseph and his followers is clearly explained and w/out prejudice. The information regarding FLDS families enables one to understand the evolution of plural marriages, [which are deplorable --- my personal opinion]. Had no idea why the book was purchased, other than having previously read one of his books. Great writer! Will purchase more of his books.

Before you buy, be aware that the author is an atheist. There is a constant subtle belittling of any type of belief in God, you get the feeling that he finds faith ridiculous & something for unintelligent people. There are some very interesting historical tidbits about the LDS church & its beginnings that I did not find in other books (I've read about 20). Some of the footnotes are fascinating. It is more about Mormon history & how the violence & control developed than about the one incident of murder in 1984 that is referred to on the cover.

LIke the author, most of admire the way the Mormon religion generally has a very healthy family oriented approach to life. The idea of golden tablets that are lost (of course) and an angel with a language only the founder can understand (of course) and some of the hypocrisy of the revelations are just part of the basis of most religions. After all they are faith based not fact based. It was a good over view of the beginnings of the LDS Church and the real perils of polygamy when it is mixed with religious authority abuse. All in all it is a good read.

An excellent, thought-provoking dose of realism. Loved the audio book as it is read by the actual author. This story speaks to many who are disgusted with the hypocrisy and violence often associated with religious fundamentalism. Very well organized, well-written, and a pleasure to absorb. Highly recommended.

This guide is easily digestible but with a level of depth that doesn't leave you trying to fill in the gaps. Covering essential theory through to progressively challenging practical exercises, you really get a grasp of how everything ticks. You get started with a grounding in the physics before giving you a handle on all the different drone terminology and components to get you started. The practical exercises to master flight control and safety are really well thought out - by the end of it, you'll know your stuff, and have the skills to match. The companion mobile app is pretty cool too!

Nothing special about this guide. Ok for someone curious in the hobby but with no plans to invest in equipment or spending time learningto fly racing drones.

Good little intro- it won't get you racing but it gives great tricks for learning the ropes.

Excellent transaction. Fast shipment and great product.

This guide is great! I love how detailed it is with everything from choosing a quad to performing cool tricks. It's a great place for the new enthusiast to start.

Well done. Learned a lot for a little.

Very informative book.

I really enjoyed this. Has great information for beginners. Gave me a much better understanding of the basic maneuvers. I look forward to the next book.
