As many other readers have said, this is not a typical Dee Henderson book. I was intrigued by the jacket overview and decided to take a chance on something different than the author normally writes. A quarter of the way through this book, I had a check in my spirit and decided to look at the "special thanks" section in the back of the book. At least 80% of those listed are Prosperity Doctrine pastors. At that point I put the book down and put it in my recycle bin as I would not want anyone else to read a book in which scripture is taken completely out of context and slapped together in such a way that it sounds biblical. This was very disappointing as all of her other books rarely take scripture out of context. I would not recommend this book.
Although this is sold as fiction, it reads like a Bible study. There are pages and pages of Bible verses taken out of context to promote not only a healing doctrine (everyone is supposed to be healed) but also a resurrection doctrine (because of the cross, we aren't supposed to die). Not true. Jesus died for our sins and when we accept that free gift we will have eternal life. For most of us, our healing comes then. God does choose to heal when it's for the good of the kingdom but it is not a guarantee or right that we have. Our job is to glorify God in all we do and help others find salvation through Jesus. I have loved Dee Henderson's books since the very first one and will continue to read them but these "blue books" are a mistake.
I am over 1/2 way through this book the 2nd time, reading it with my Bible open in my lap checking every scripture. None are taken out of context to prove a point, they are what they say. I love this book. I absolutely believe she hits the explanations of things right on the head, in a way that makes so much sense, and so far I have not found ANYthing that contradicts scripture. I have read the other reviews, and clearly a couple of those people are not as hungry for God as I am, this is exactly what I've been looking for, in fact I ordered 3 more copies to give to dear friends. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and he wants us to be healed and live healthy. He always has. This book will help me receive that gift of grace. Thank you Dee!
Very disappointed in this book. I have read a few of Dee Henderson's novels and have found them interesting and rewarding. They have had good stories with a Christian underpinning that uplifted the spirit and made the reader think about their faith . This book basically had no story. It was like an extended Bible study for the entire book. It was also very repetitive. When Connie would give her lesson to Ryan either in person or through one of her audio tapes he would do a study of his own with notes and repeat almost the exact same thing she had taught. Even though there was basically no fiction novel to this book there was also seriously flawed scriptural misuse.Ms Henderson should have just written a non-fiction book espousing the scripture as she (or her mentors who she may be speaking for) has interpreted them. There are some very good points but many dubious interpretations.I actually felt duped by purchasing this book, that the author wanted her views as she has interpreted them to be heard and felt like a 'novel' would be the surest way to draw someone in..
I have read and loved Dee Henderson novels since I first discovered her in 2012. This book is her best. While it is full of scripture she has delivered the message in true Dee Henderson form. I have long believed the truth she has written here. It is way past time for the body of Christ to receive our complete gift of healing the same as salvation. I applaud you Ms Henderson. Well written and truth delivered admists, I’m sure, much pressure from Satan to stop it. I look forward to her next book. And I’m already buying this book for my daughter and anyone else the Holy Spirit directs me to. I love how she uses some of the previous characters again. I’ve become so familiar with them sometimes I forget they aren’t real people. Only problem I see is that she can’t write faster. It’s always so hard to wait for each new book
Wonderful. VERY TRUE TO SCRIPTURE. Any thing Dee Henderson writes is great.Have almost all her books, what I don't have I have read.Look for her next one. To far in-between her books, They are so good.
Dee Henderson warned her readers in the book's description on her website and in her email newsletter that this book would be different. So I went into it with an open mind even though it didn't sound like something I would have picked up from any other author.I did not enjoy the new style of this book. I missed the male/female romance. And I missed the action. But I did enjoy that Paul and Ann Falcon were in the book along with Joe and Kelly Baker! It is always fun to be reunited with old friends. And I did like Ryan a lot.But I'll be honest the fact that most of the book was Connie teaching Ryan about scripture and her experiences with healing and resurrecting was not what I enjoy finding in a fiction book. I don't mind if part of a book is more of a sermon, but this was a little too much for me. I think I'll stick with re-reading her other books when I need a Henderson fix.
God's truths are always impactful requiring our faith, trust and confidence that He has gifted us with a Grace that is alive and well and active today as it was when Jesus walked the earth. Dee Henderson reminds us of these truths, reminding us they are very much ours now.
